Invited Panelist on Bild TV's "Das BILD-Wahlstudio" (September 2021)
My invitation to appear on BILD TV's "Das BILD-Wahlstudio" (The BILD Election Studio), the broadcast arm of Germany’s most widely read newspaper, provided a unique forum to translate my academic insights into public discourse. Following the 2021 German national election, I was asked to represent and analytically unpack the critical first-time voter demographic—a crucial cohort comprising 2.8 million individuals and 4.6% of the national electorate. This required me to operate at the intersection of applied political science, quantitative data analysis, and high-stakes media communications. I synthesized current youth political attitudes and electoral behavior (including the significant turnout among the 18–29 age group), through which I was able to provide a forward-looking analysis to an audience of political experts, commentators, and policymakers. I addressed questions such as, "How can Germany's government better reach younger voters?" and "What do you think were the decisive factors in this election?". This was not just an opportunity to present data, but to speak for a generation whose political power is often underestimated.
The value of this experience is profoundly personal. It aligns with my core commitment to strengthening democracy and civil society by ensuring that complex electoral behavior is given the serious, data-driven consideration essential for a resilient system. This opportunity solidified my professional ambition to transition from theoretical study to actionable, real-world contributions that drive policy and public discourse within the Public Policy/Political Science.
